Leg gear is equipped in the legs slot. It provides the smallest share of your defensive stats, but it is the only armour slot that carries a movement speed implicit on some of its bases. Every base falls into one of two defensive families:
Energy Shield from the head, chest and leg slots is summed into a single pool.

Because a base's item level range is also the range of Area Levels it can drop in, the ranges below double as a progression guide.
Leg gear is the only armour slot with an implicit movement speed modifier, and the two families do not treat it the same way:
Energy Shield acts as a buffer in front of your life total.
All Energy Shield leg bases carry an implicit 8% increased movement speed.
