Attributes are core character stats in Path of Terraria. There are 3 attributes in total:
You can view your current totals in the character information panel under the Attributes section.
Attributes are currently gained from two main sources:
Attribute bonuses are applied in steps of 10 points. Partial points still count toward your total, but the base stat bonus only increases once you reach the next 10-point breakpoint.
| Attribute | Effect | Equivalent per point |
|---|---|---|
| Strength | +5 maximum life per 10 points | +0.5 life per point, rounded down to each full set of 10 |
| Dexterity | +1% global attack speed per 10 points | +0.1% attack speed per point |
| Intelligence | +5 maximum mana per 10 points | +0.5 mana per point, rounded down to each full set of 10 |
Strength increases your maximum life.
Every 10 Strength grants +5 maximum life.
Examples:
Dexterity increases your global attack speed.
Every 10 Dexterity grants +1% attack speed.
Unlike Strength and Intelligence, this bonus scales directly with your total Dexterity instead of only at full 10-point breakpoints.
Intelligence increases your maximum mana.
Every 10 Intelligence grants +5 maximum mana.
Examples:
The passive tree contains dedicated attribute nodes for all three attributes. It also contains hybrid nodes that grant two attributes at once:
These nodes are a reliable way to build toward the stat mix your character needs.
Attributes can also roll as item affixes on gear.
These affixes begin appearing at minimum level 1 and improve at higher levels, with stronger tiers unlocking at levels 9, 18, 25, 34, and 45.
Attribute affixes are available across most non-map equipment and jewels, with shields favoring Strength, quivers favoring Dexterity, and talismans favoring Intelligence.
This page reflects the current source code for the mod. The older statement that gear has attribute requirements does not appear to be implemented in the current codebase.
